Ordering solid oil bearings: lead time, shipping and returns

Three solid oil bearings in a row, filled to order and ready to ship

Every solid oil bearing is filled to order and ships in 7 to 10 business days by UPS or USPS within the United States. Standard shipping is $10, free over $100. Express is $35. Quantity quotes are by email, with no minimum order. All sales are final. Wrong or defective items are replaced free if reported within 48 hours.

This guide walks through the whole process: finding the size, choosing a grade, lead time, shipping, returns and cancellations, quantity quotes, purchase orders and custom sizes.

How do I find the right solid oil bearing size?

There are two ways. If you know the dimensions, enter bore, outside diameter and width in the Bearing Finder and it returns the matching part number. If you know the series, browse it directly: the 6000, 6200 and 6300 metric series, the 6800 and other thin section series, miniature sizes, the inch R series and the inch 1600 series. The full catalog lists all 204 sizes.

If you are replacing a greased bearing, the size is the same: a 6203 in grease is a 6203 in solid oil. Ignore suffixes such as 2RS or ZZ on the old part. Every solid oil bearing is sealed with solid oil, so there is no closure option to pick.

What are the two grades, and how do the part numbers work?

Every size is offered in two grades:

  • Standard: chrome steel rings and balls. Part numbers end in SL, for example 6203-SL.
  • Food Grade: stainless steel rings and balls, filled with an NSF H1 registered solid lubricant. Part numbers start with S and end in FGSL, for example S6203-FGSL.

Choose Standard for general machinery. Choose Food Grade for food and beverage lines, washdown areas, marine and wet environments, and anywhere corrosion resistance or incidental food contact matters. The Food Grade bearings guide has the detail.

How long is the lead time for solid oil bearings?

Orders ship in 7 to 10 business days. Solid oil bearings are made to order bearings: nothing is pulled from a shelf. Each one is filled with solid oil in house at our Glendale, California facility, then packed and shipped. You receive a shipping confirmation with tracking by email.

The 7 to 10 business days covers filling and handoff to the carrier. Transit time is added on top, so allow for it when a machine is down. If your date is tight, email us before ordering.

What does shipping cost, and how are orders shipped?

  • Standard shipping: $10 flat rate, free on orders over $100.
  • Express shipping: $35, with 3 to 5 day transit.

Orders ship by UPS or USPS within the United States only. Express shortens the transit, not the filling time, so the 7 to 10 business day lead time still applies before the package leaves.

Can I return or cancel a solid oil bearing order?

All sales are final. Each bearing is filled to order for your part number and grade, so we cannot take it back into stock. There are two exceptions:

  • If you receive the wrong item, or an item is defective, email us within 48 hours of delivery with photos and we will replace it free.
  • You can cancel an order before filling starts. Email your order number as soon as possible. Once filling has begun, the order cannot be canceled.

The best protection against a wrong size is to confirm bore, outside diameter and width against the shaft and housing before ordering. The Bearing Finder page shows how to measure, and the FAQ answers common fit questions.

How do I get a bearing quantity quote?

Email info@solidoilbearings.com with three things: the part number, the grade (Standard or Food Grade) and the quantity. We reply within one business day with pricing for that quantity. There is no minimum order, and a list of several part numbers in one email is fine.

Do you accept purchase orders?

If you need to buy on a purchase order, mention it in your email and we will let you know what we can do.

Can you supply a custom size?

Custom sizes are available on request. If the size you need is not among the 204 listed, email the bore, outside diameter, width, grade and quantity, and we will tell you whether we can fill it and the lead time.

Frequently asked questions

Are solid oil bearings in stock or made to order?

Made to order. Every bearing is filled with solid oil after you place the order and ships in 7 to 10 business days by UPS or USPS. Express shipping shortens transit time but not filling time.

Is there a minimum order quantity?

No. You can order a single bearing online, and quantity quotes by email have no minimum either. Standard shipping is $10 and free on orders over $100.

What happens if I ordered the wrong size?

If we shipped the wrong item or it arrived defective, email us within 48 hours of delivery with photos and we replace it free. If the part number ordered was the wrong size for the machine, the sale is final, so confirm bore, outside diameter and width before ordering.
