Solid Oil Bearings is run by AMPEC INC of Glendale, California. We opened this store to make solid oil bearings easy to buy: no quote request, no long wait, no premium price.
What we make
Every bearing we sell is a deep groove ball bearing sealed with Syn-Tech solid oil. The base bearings are made in China to standard dimensions. At our Glendale facility we fill the internal space of each bearing with the solid lubricant and cure it in a convection oven. It sets into a solid polymer matrix that holds the oil in place and seals the bearing. As the bearing turns, the matrix releases a thin oil film onto the balls and raceways. The bearing needs no relubrication for its service life, and the fill cannot purge, drip or wash out.
Who buys them
Our customers are maintenance engineers and purchasing agents who are done with relubrication rounds, purged grease and washdown failures. They run food and beverage lines, washdown equipment, conveyors, packaging machinery, marine equipment and hard-to-reach motors, fans and pumps. Solid oil bearings are not for every job: they run at lower maximum speeds than greased bearings, so if your application is high speed, email us first and we will say so.
Two grades
Standard bearings use chrome steel rings and balls, with part numbers such as 6203-SL. Food Grade bearings use stainless steel rings and balls and an NSF H1 registered solid lubricant, with part numbers such as S6203-FGSL. Both grades come in all 204 sizes: metric 6000, 6200, 6300, 6700, 6800 and 6900 series, miniature sizes down to 1 mm bore, and inch R and 1600 series.
